JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN (6TH JANUARY 2014) – South Sudan’s National Army, the SPLA has been dealt a serious morale crushing blow when a decorated General was killed in action in an ambushed in Pariak, 25km south of Bor town, the Capital of Jonglei State.
The General whom we cannot name until his loved ones have been informed through the officials channels was driving in a convoy of SPLA’s HQs Brigade and reinforcements advancing to the Frontline just outside Bor. Sources on the ground report that the SPLA was ambushed and came under attack in front and in the rear as the convoy drove out of Pariak yesterday.
Besides the killed General, another General, Kuol Malith was wounded in the same ambushed and was medivac to Juba. On Saturday another General, Chol Deng Chol (aka Chol-gut-kom) was also wounded when forces when was leading were counterattacked in rear by the enemy in a fierce battle that resulted in the capture of Pariak.
The overall commanding general, LT. GEN MALUAL AYOM DOR IS ALIVE, unharmed and is still in charge.
