JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN (17 MAY 2015) – An official has left the Ministry of Information over alleged discrimination practiced within the institution according to Radio Tamazuj.

Clement Aturjong Kuot, Deputy Director for the government website, said he was vacating his post due to what he called nepotism in hiring practices by minister Michael Makuei Lueth. Aturjong also said the ministry was corrupt according to Radio Tamazuj.

Aturjong Kuot accused Makuei of making appointments based on other considerations rather than merit, particularly in the case of newly appointed undersecretary Jacob Aleer. Aturjong said that Aleer is not a journalist and therefore unqualified to hold the post.

Earlier this year former director of SSTV Khamis Abdel-Latif left the ministry and joined the rebels after he was fired and accused Makuei of being “a tribal and racist man.”
